Privacy Policy

The short version

• You can play as a guest without creating an account.
• If you sign in, we keep what we need to run your account, save progress, and show leaderboards.
• No ads, no tracking across other apps or websites, and we never sell your information.
• You can permanently delete your account from inside the app at any time.

Information we collect

When you play as a guest

Guest play creates a temporary guest player identifier so the game can run your session. Gameplay during that session is tied to the identifier. Guest runs are never posted to leaderboards.

When you sign in with Apple or Google

We collect the information needed to create and maintain your player account:

• The email address shared by Apple or Google. If you choose Apple's Hide My Email, we receive a private relay address instead of your real one.
• The name or suggested name shared by Apple or Google, and the public username you choose for leaderboards.
• A player identifier that links your account to your game data.

Gameplay information

For solo runs and the Daily Challenge we store records tied to your player identifier, such as scores, streaks, chosen category and difficulty, the answers you type, whether each answer was graded correct, hints used, leaderboard entries, and any answers you report with the I think I was right button.

Stored on your device

Some preferences, such as your lyrics filter setting and sign-in session, are stored on your device so the app remembers them.

What we do not collect

Lyric Hero does not collect precise location, contacts, photos, microphone recordings, payment information, health information, or government identifiers.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

• Sign you in and maintain your player account.
• Run solo games, the Daily Challenge, and team games, and save your progress.
• Grade your answers and show weekly and category leaderboards for signed-in players.
• Prevent duplicate usernames and keep leaderboards fair.
• Review reported answers and fix incorrect questions.
• Handle account deletion, support requests, and basic troubleshooting.

No ads, no tracking, no sale of data

Lyric Hero shows no ads and has no in-app purchases. We do not use your information for advertising, we do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

Services we rely on

We share information with the service providers below only as needed to run the game. Each processes information under its own terms and privacy policy.

Amazon Web Services (hosting)

The game's servers and database run on Amazon Web Services. Account and gameplay information is stored and processed there on our behalf.

Apple and Google (sign-in)

If you choose Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, that provider authenticates you and shares your email address, name, and an account identifier with us. Your use of those sign-in services is also covered by Apple's Privacy Policy or Google's Privacy Policy.

YouTube (song audio)

Song audio plays through the official YouTube player, which is visibly embedded in the app and provided by Google. When the player loads or plays a video, Google and YouTube may collect information about your device and how you use the player, such as your IP address, device and browser details, and viewing activity, under Google's Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service. We do not receive that information from YouTube.

Groq (checking close answers)

When our built-in grader marks a typed answer as wrong, our servers may ask Groq, Inc.'s AI inference service whether your answer is still a correct match, for example a spelling variant or a slightly different wording of the right lyric. For that check we send only the question text, the expected answer, the answer you typed, the song title and artist, and our grader's own result. We do not send your player identifier, username, email address, or device information. Groq's handling of this data is described in Groq's Privacy Policy.

Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music (links out)

Lyric Hero can open a song in Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube Music. Those links leave our app, and whatever you do in those services is covered by their own policies.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our players, CloudHive LLC, or others.

Explicit lyrics

The explicit-lyrics filter is on by default. You can turn it off in Settings. Trivia questions may include short lyric excerpts as part of gameplay.

Retention and account deletion

We keep account and gameplay information for as long as your account exists so we can provide saved progress and leaderboards. Guest identifiers are temporary and are not used for leaderboards.

Signed-in players can delete their account at any time in the app: open Settings and tap Delete Account. Deletion is permanent. It removes your player profile, username, progress, run and answer records, leaderboard entries, and answer reports linked to your account from our database. It cannot be undone.

Limited operational logs kept by our hosting infrastructure may persist for a short time before they expire.

Children

Lyric Hero is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact lamarr@cloudhive.io and we will delete it.

Your choices

• Play as a guest if you do not want an account.
• Delete your account in the app from Settings at any time.
• Email lamarr@cloudhive.io to ask what information we hold about you, or to correct it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Lyric Hero handles information, we will update this page and the effective date above. If a change significantly affects how your information is used, we will also make reasonable efforts to let players know, for example in the app.
